  The organisation does absolutely zilch humanitarian work and zilch charitable work to generally help the sick, poor, needy, dying in the community. Occasionally they put in a token effort in times of disaster to help their own.

  In fact, the greedy, money-loving Watchtower Society actively discourages JW's from donating to charities, saying their kingdom preaching work is the real life-saving cause that JW's should be donating to.

  Deplorable.

  Is the Watchtower like Jesus, who told a follower to sell all his belongings and give to the poor; or more like the Pharisees, who convinced adherents it was more important to donate to the temple than do some kind deed (Mark 7:11)?

  feeling sad

  the past number of months have been traumatic for myself and my family.. the fascist practices of the wts have wreaked monumental harm to us all - with 3 members hospitalized for suicide.. researching past events brings one to the overwhelmingly sad story of bethany hughes, and her parents lawrence and arliss.. (arliss was featured years later on a dc for her courage through their ordeal.).

  it is doubly sad knowing personally one of the wts lawyers involved, and his relatives who have left the wts despite the harsh consequences.. sometimes, i wish there were a "dante" hell.. .

  Immensely sad. Your heart goes out to this man and his courage in fighting this monstrous religious organisation. What happened to his legal suit against the Watchtower?

  Not dimishing the tragedy and sadness of even one victim such as Bethany, but the Youtube clip says "hundreds of thousands" have died as a result of the blood policy and "millions of JWs will die needlessly in the future unless something is done to prevent it"? Huh?

  Interesting how he says the Watchtower uses these children as religious martyrs. I hadn't thought of it quite like that but it's true.

  i am a big fan of the group 30 seconds to mars, and whats amazing is many of their songs seem to have a anti cult theme like "huricane" "up in the air" and others.

  so after i watched a video of the song huricane, so i could see the lyrics i googled to see if they, the lead singer jared leto and his brother shannon, were former jw's and yes they were.

  crazy small world!!!!.

  Wow, that song Hurricane blew my mind, thanks for starting this thread and posting that link. Never heard of this group but will listen to more. I can definitely see ex-JW themes in those lyrics.

  is it relative, or do all human societies and cultures hold at least some things to be good?.

  i don't think right and true is "universal" other than what is right and true for people.

  a dolphin or a praying mantis may have alien perceptions of what is "good".

  yadda, human compassion is a many varied thing, and is tied to cuteness. Too bad we have more compassion for the Panda than the Eastern Rattler.

  Lol, JGnat saw the image I embedded of a cute doggy and decided 'cuteness' must be a factor and we discriminate against snakes.

  He seems to have a sort of hypnotic ability to evoke powerful emotions from his followers. Look at that guy shaking in the chair.

  You'll often see similar crying and blubbering going on at your local modern, evangelistic style church, with people tearfully calling out Jesus' name with arms raised, heads-bowed sobbing on bended knees, and other general maudlin behaviour. Like a sort of wailing funeral service. The difference here is he's got these gullible fools thinking he's really Jesus. It's just very sad to see children caught up in it.

  Haha, that would be funny and ironic if they told the flock to "forget the things" behind with reference to their own older publications as if they are like Sodom and Gomorrah, not to be looked back at or you'll turn into a pillar of salt.

  found this video of the entertainment preperation for the delegates in atlanta, u.s. this seems to be professionally done maybe outside sources or probably done by "professional" jw's.

  this is just like christendom or all the other religious organizations that they deem to be from the devil.

  the people seem to be very sincere in there efforts & is much appreciated,.

  i was in a chinese take-out the other day and saw a couple of very recent awake and watchtower magazines on the counter, amongst other magazines.. i had a good flick through both of them and noticed how very similar both magazines now appear in terms of appearance and content.

  i was left with the distinct impression that the public edition watchtower is now basically indiscernable from the awake!

  regarding content.

  I had a good flick through both of them and noticed how very similar both magazines now appear in terms of appearance and content. I was left with the distinct impression that the public edition Watchtower is now basically indiscernable from the Awake! regarding content. The public Watchtower I perused did not even seem to have a greater 'Bible-based' content than the Awake.

  I could almost have switched the front title pages of both magazines and not been able to distinguish one from the other.

  It struck me as almost embarrassing how similar both magazines now are, one called Awake and the other Watchtower, both having the same style articles and content, size, format, etc.

  I'm sure many JW's must also be wondering what is the point of having both magazines now?

  I've suspected for a while now that they are about to drop one of these magazines entirely, probably the Watchtower (retaining only the JW study version), and this experience really reinforced my gut feeling this will happen before too long.

  Ironically, YHWH stopped Abraham from killing his son, and said elsewhere that child sacrifice was never something that came up into his heart, but JW's are willing to let their children die for want of a blood transfusion. Whose example are JW's following: Jehovah's or Baals?

  That elder would have made a first-class (and dead) follower of Jim Jones at Jonestown.

  At the bottom of the following article on the infidels.org website http://infidels.org/library/modern/raymond_bradley/moral.html, you'll read about a Presbyterian Minister who resigned after he posited a similar question to his congregation and many answered in the affirmative.

  History is full of death-dealing, brainwashing religious deceivers and their many victims who unquestionally obeyed despite all common-sense. For decades now JW's have blindly followed their Governing Body pied pipers over the blood transfusion and 'two-witnesses' for child abuse policies, with all its tragic consequences.

  BU2B, man you've got a way with words. I hear you man, I hear you. You are what I was a few year back. You've got to work out a way to just do the BARE MINIMUM dude without p*ssing off the missus too much. Just go Sundaysand tell her the stress is too much to go anymore and you're health is crapping out. Buy her some flowers and be extra affectionate at home to make up for it and help her get used to your fade. Take it easy brother.
